Looking for a purrfect pal?

I love the annual Mother’s Day sales at our local nurseries and garden centers.  Here in our lovely Zone 6 Valley,  they herald the kick off of gardening season!  Even better,  these will be the only good sales to be found at the start of the season …. when the selection is still good and the stock has not gone past its best planting time.

Best of all of course is that these sales are a splendid opportunity to find great deals on the shrubbery and perennials that should be the backbone of any good landscaping plan.   Once the initial work of establishing is done,  these are the low maintenance favourites that will free one up for all the other summer bits one enjoys:)

It really is frosting on the cake that perennials are the gift that keeps on giving …. providing a ‘free’ source of plants every few years when they need to be divided 🙂

As it happens, this weekend is also a great opportunity for kind hearts looking to adopt a cat to find their purrfect match.    I am thrilled to say there are cat adoption events happening all around the province this weekend!

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, these kitties are an even better ‘buy’ than anything the nurseries and garden centers have to offer.  They are all vet checked and vaccinated and in most cases already altered.

If you, or anyone near and dear to you, is looking for a feline friend:

  • Sat, May 12th, Shurgain Feeds in Berwick is having a customer appreciation day and are sponsoring HART by having a BBQ / Donation / Adoption Day !   This is happening from 10 am until 3 pm and you can click here for directions
  • On Sat May 12th in the city, Meow Movers 2 is being held from 10 am to 2pm ( see poster below for details 🙂  There will be ten cat rescues there for kind hearts to meet!   For those who are simply browsing for bargains, I do believe there will also be Mini Market to peruse 🙂
  • On Sat May 12th,  PET Projects is having an Adoption Fair at the Shelbourne Fire Hall from 10 am until 2 pm.  The famous Rockland Kitties who were on CTV will be there in the hopes that they will find more responsible humans this time around.   Heart, pictured above, is only one of the thirty one lovelies who were rescued from the old abandoned house in Rockland.

What time is it?   It is time to spread the good word about these cat adoption events so that kind hearts can have the opportunity to connect with the kindred spirits they have been looking for!
