By now, anyone following this blog knows that Its Adopt a Shelter Cat Month . At the start of the month, I did a post about some of the fundraisers and adoption fairs going on….. one of which was the CAPS Open House and Baby Shower on the 14th.
So how did that go? I just had an email to let me know that eighty visitors were enticed to come to the ‘shower’ …. and none of them came empty handed. In fact, people were so into the spirit of the thing that the donations were wrapped in shower paper and came with little cards. Even better, everyone had so much fun they were asking when the next one would be held. And of course, best of all were the flurry of adoption applications that the day brought in for CAPS.
At the end of the day ….. that is of course the whole point of a rescue group. Like most of the other private groups in the province, once an animal comes into CAPS’ care, they have a safe berth for however long it takes to be adopted. But of course the more adoptions, the more pets they can save.
This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about in the last post…. the need for groups and shelters to try new things in an effort to boost cat adoptions. If CAPS can have this kind of success when their Kitty Cottages are so far off the beaten path, just imagine what could be accomplished elsewhere?
What time is it? Its time to remember that while it is very important to save lives ….. boosting adoptions will save more lives. And every cat that is adopted from rescue becomes part of the solution instead of being part of the problem.
